One story that stood out in particular.

English: The picture compares the story of kin...

It’s so hard to imagine a life, without the people we love in it. We all have had someone, that has been so special in our lives. Someone, who has always been there. Someone, who has loved us unconditionally, who gave us love, and support, and helped shape who we are. For me, it has always been my Mother. I was blessed with a Christian Mother, who was, and is full of faith. When i was growing up, my Mother, would read my sister, and i, Bible stories, from the Children’s Bible. She always read with expression, and feeling, so she was able to captivate us while she was reading to us. When she would finish reading, and even while she was reading, i would ask all kinds of questions. Being a child, some things were hard for me to understand. I remember one story that stood out in particular. It was the story about King Solomon, who had to decide, which of two women were telling the truth, over a living child. The story is, that there dwelled two women together, who each had a baby. During the night, one woman accidentally smothered her baby, when she rolled on top of it, in her sleep. When she awoke, she discovered what had happened, and took her dead baby, and placed it with the other woman, and took the other woman’s baby, as her own. The other woman upon arising, knew immediately what had happened. So they argued, and took the matter to King Solomon, to make a judgment, about who was telling the truth, over what had happened. The King was wise, and so he told the women that he would end the argument, by cutting the child in half, and giving each woman a half of the child. He knew that the true Mother of the child, could not bear this. Sure enough, the true Mother, was willing to give the child alive, to the other woman. So the King knew immediately then, who the true Mother was, and gave her back her child.

Being the child, i was, i think i nearly drove my Mother crazy with questions. Good thing for me, she was always so patient, and would try every way she knew how, to answer every question i had.

When i think back on those times, i feel so blessed! My Mother, has been a guiding force for me, all of my life. It is very hard for me to face losing her. She will one day soon, go to her Heavenly home. Her work on this earth, is almost finished. It is so hard to imagine my life, without her in it.

God, gives us such wonderful gifts, when He gives us special people to love, who also love us. I thank God, for the wonderful teacher, that my Mother is. God is so good!

Look at the world with the heart and eyes of a child

MP900426559When we are young the world seems so new and there is nothing that can hold us down for long. When  we grow old we forget how wonderful this world truly is. When we are a child we find delight in the simple things in life. When we are grown up we think money and possessions are what makes our life have worth. Seems to me we had more wisdom as children than as adults and we knew what life was really about back we were young. We grew older and colder as time went on, we have forgotten how to be our true selves and lost the spirit of happiness. We get consumed by our work, bills and the daily fight to survive. We forget to stop and smell the roses, we forgot how to play and have fun. We worry too much about what other people may think or say if we let loose and be silly.  Some of us have even became bitter from all the harshness we have faced in our adult years.

MP900444203 Life is not a job, it’s a chance to be who you are to the fullest and a chance to experience the world we live in. We should look at the world with the heart and eyes of a child, we should see the beauty and wonder of this world we live in. We should leave behind the bitterness and mistrust we have learned to have through all these years and embrace the spirit of friendship and community. We shouldn’t allow our jobs and/or careers to be the main focus of our life. We should make our family and our friends the main priority in our life because they are what makes our life worth living. We should love and forgive like we did as children and live each day like it’s a new adventure not like it’s another day to survive.

Life is what you make it, for your life and world can only be the way you choose to perceive it.

The past will serve as a reminder to me daily

dd43853 So many times we take our friends and family for granted, we go through days if not weeks without saying I love you or showing them any kind of appreciation. Without family and friends our lives would be empty, incomplete and we couldn’t function or survive. We should remember to take time out of our lives each day to thank them, appreciate them and tell them how important they are to us. We should also thank God for those friends and our family we have for God gave us them both.  I know I am thankful for all my friends and family I have, even those that sometimes make my life more complicated. I know I too can be a piece of work to deal with at times and pray they all will forgive me for those times I am.  To remember friends and family daily is to avoid becoming too self-centered and selfish. The needs of others and the company of others are far more important than any job or recreation in my life.

For those friends and family that I can’t see or talk to daily I send out a thank you and a I love you all through this post and in my heart. For those I have neglected and have taken for granted in the past I ask forgiveness and pray the past will serve as a reminder to me daily not to do so again.

Friends and family are great treasures God has blessed us with, we should cherish every moment we have with them each day.

because he trusted God, and had faith. The faith of a mustard seed.

An angel prevents the sacrifice of Isaac. Abra...

I was thinking about faith. I have heard people say,…I take my medications, faithfully, or …..I exercise, faithfully. Even when people sign notes sometimes, they write,…..Faithfully, yours. However,…..so many have no concept of what the act of faith, really is. The Bible says, that if we only have the faith of a mustard seed,….we can tell a mountain, to be moved into the sea,….and it will be done. If we only believe, and have no doubts. When i think about how tiny a mustard seed is, it amazes me that we only need to have that much faith, to have the Lord help us, and answer our prayers. A mustard seed, is so tiny, that it can barely be seen. Yet,….it is all we need to tell the mountain, to be moved into the sea! The mountain sometimes can be a sickness, or any problem. The sea,…is the sea of oblivion. So we can tell a sickness, or a problem, to be moved into the sea of oblivion. To cast it into nothingness. To make it be gone. If only we have that tiny amount of faith,….the faith of a mustard seed. It is so hard to comprehend, that such a small amount of faith, can move God‘s, hands to help. To have Him, answer a prayer. It is however, all that we need. I often think of Abraham, in the Bible. He was called the friend of God. He listened to God’s, voice, and did what God told him to do. I can imagine many times,….he wondered about God’s plans for him, and how everything would fall into place, for him. Yet, he did what God told him to do. He told Abraham, that he would have a son, in his old age, and he did! Sarah, gave birth to Isaac, at the age of ninety. She was well past child-bearing years, so that in itself, was a miracle. Abraham, was one hundred years old. Isaac’s name, means “Laughter”, because Sarah, did laugh when she was told she would conceive a son, at her age. Later on, after Isaac became a young man, the Lord tested Abraham’s faith. Abraham was to sacrifice Isaac on an altar. This grieved Abraham,…but he trusted God, obeyed, and had faith. God, stopped Abraham, from making the sacrifice, after seeing that he truly trusted in Him, and had faith. That would have been the toughest test of faith that there was. To sacrifice your own child! But Abraham, was willing, because he trusted God, and had faith. The faith of a mustard seed.

We should all, pray, and ask God, for that “seed” faith. The faith, that moves mountains!

Material wealth and possessions can not fill the void

Fountain of Wealth

Why is it we always seem to want the things that are not ours or not meant to be ours? We have so many good things in our lives but yet we lust for more and envy that of our neighbors and friends. We never seem satisfied with what we have and always think the grass is greener in the yard next door. Sometimes we long for possessions and envy others because we are lacking something in our lives that we can not find or figure out. It isn’t a physical object it is something within ourselves we lack and it is different for each one of us. The main thing we must realize is that if our neighbor’s grass looks greener it’s either they took care of their yard or the yard is full of crabgrass and only looks greener. More or less if someone’s life looks all great and wonderful either they worked hard to get it there or it’s just an illusion and usually it’s the later.

Far as that bottomless void some of us suffer and try in vain to fill with material goods and pleasures, it can only be filled by spiritual means. Prayer, faith and even meditation will help fill that void along with a little self-esteem building. Where the void came from is something that each individual must find out but a void usually comes from a great loss like a death in the family, loss of self-worth and the lack of spiritual meaning in one’s life. Sometimes the void is created by a multitude of things and over many years of life. The one thing I am sure of both through personal experience and that of friends and colleagues is that material wealth and possessions can not fill the void and neither can drugs or pleasures. Though they provide temporary relief they usually help the void grow in size in the end.

Material wealth and possessions can be stolen and / or lost , Riches of the spirit and heart are everlasting.”

Today,….my heart grieves.

English: Christian Bible, rosary, and crucifix.

Today,….my heart grieves. I talk to so many, who do not know the Lord. They have not had the blessing of being raised in a home with Christian parents. When i was young,…i never knew the importance of being around believers. I guess because i did have the blessing of growing up WITH believers. It never occurred to me that some of my friends, did not have this gift in their lives. When i came of age, i started to see the different effects that being raised without God, had on people i knew. Some had turned to drugs, and alcohol, or became so rebellious that they wound up in many terrible places. I thank God, for all of the Christians in my life. My Grandparents, my Mother, all of my Aunt’s and Uncles, and many friends. I am so thankful that God put all of these wonderful people, into my life. Nothing just happens. God placed these people into my life for a reason. I like to think, that maybe He did this, so that i may help someone to get to know the Lord. To experience Christ, and all the love He has to offer. I want so badly for people to know God. It grieves me when people refuse, and reject Him. Because they cannot see Him,….they find it hard to believe in Him. I have not seen Him,….but i feel Him, everyday and see His mighty work. I am in awe,….everyday of things He has made. From a tiny baby,….to a butterfly, a mountain, or a river. I wish that those that do not believe,….could open their hearts to see, and realize that these things do not just happen. They were designed by the Creator,…the Lord, God. Today,…

My prayer is that all will open their hearts, and experience the wonderful, mighty, love of God!

Commit your actions to the LORD, and your plans will succeed.

p10186We can make our plans, but the LORD determines our steps. This verse tells it all, we may make all the plans we wish but in the end God’s will is absolute. God gave us freewill to choose what path of life we want to follow and how we want to live our lives. His will is still present during this time and we have the freedom to choose his will above our own. If we look at God’s will like a straight line coming from the beginning of time to the end, it never wavers or changes course. Then we can see small chaotic lines going every which way around the outside of gods will and those are the will of humans. Some merge into God’s will and others just aimlessly wander until they disappear.

p10182
Commit you actions to the Lord, and your plans will succeed. When you live your life for God then all the plans you make are in Christ therefore they shall be successful. All things are possible in Christ and nothing is impossible for  God.  Jesus came to help redeem the sinners and heal the sick of body and of spirit as well. He offers salvation as a gift to all who desire to receive it. To be saved is simple for all you have to do is accept Jesus into your heart and embrace the salvation he offers.

The choice is yours, to live a life dedicated to your creator and your Lord and savior or a life for your own lusts and selfishness. Let God help you think in a righteous way and may your heart not be hardened by this world and all its cruelties .

God Bless

Self Compassion: The act of having compassion on ones self.

MP900427738   We tend to forget we should show compassion not only to others but to ourselves as well. For compassion starts with one’s self and radiates outward just like love. Though it is possible to be compassionate towards others and not yourself though it tends to exhaust your energies . When you learn to have compassion for yourself and how to love yourself you have more love and compassion to share with others and it becomes like a second nature to you. We all need compassion and love in our lives if we want to admit it or not, no one person is an island upon themselves. We are social creatures by design and require some interaction with each other and support from each other as well. Trying to stand alone and face this world with no help at all is a self-defeating act and surely will fail in the end. Yes you can succeed for quite some time going it alone but in the end it will overwhelm even the most empowered individual. Our strength comes from family, friends and colleagues that God blessed us with.

bnf0424 To have compassion upon yourself is to forgive yourself for your shortcomings and the wrongs you may have committed in your past. It is also the realization that you are but human and are incapable of being perfect be it physically, mentally or morally. We are both physical / Animal and spiritual therefore we have the instincts simular that of the animals. The spiritual side of us is what strives to overcome those primal instincts but as long as we are in flesh we must fight against them. No matter how hard you try you will fall to one or another of the animal instincts within us, all we can do is pray for forgiveness and go back to fighting the good fight. This is where we must have self compassion for if we can not be compassionate upon our own selves for the sins we fall to then how can we have compassion or forgiveness for the shortcomings and sins of others.

RBM001122 The fight against our flesh is a loosing battle if we do it alone, but with the compassion, love and helping hand of God we can have the strength to resist the flesh. Though God will never fail us it is our own nature to sin so there is always a chance we may fall or back slide. That is when repentance and prayer comes into play and is the answer to those times. There is no one who can be perfect or overcome all temptations , for we are creatures born in sin. One of my favorite quotes from the words of Jesus is when he spoke out to the crowd who was going to stone a woman accused of adultery to death. “He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. ”. No person is without sin so none of us have right to judge or to execute another person over sins committed. This not only applies to other people but to our own selves, we don’t have the right to judge ourselves or persecute ourselves for sins we committed. We only have the right to pray for forgiveness and to do our best to avoid committing the sin again.

We must practice repentance, compassion, prayer and the be willing to accept our salvation from Jesus Christ.

Today is a new day and a new chance to choose

p10021 Today is a new day and a new chance for all of us to change our course as well as our destiny and/or fate. Being a firm believer of free will and the ability to choose ones own destiny I believe each day is a new chance at changing ones life. What you did yesterday may have some power on today but what you do today will be what matters tomorrow. Fret not over the mistakes of the past and do not worry about successes or failures in the future just focus on making today the best day of your life. Think twice before you make choices as well as what thoughts you think along with the words you speak. Learn not to react to life and its situations and learn to act with wisdom. Emotions are a good thing though they can become anchors, roadblocks and distractions in our life if we allow them to be in control. Experience your emotions to the fullest and move on so you can make choices through logic and not through emotional distress or elation. One of the worst emotions to that we could allow to get out of control is fear, fear serves its purpose by helping us react to life threatening situations but it isn’t supposed to be a constant companion.

dr_b_ship Even too much of a positive emotion can cloud ones ability to make choices but if your going to allow an emotion to control your life then make it a positive one.  Learn from your past mistakes but do not hold on to regret or remorse for more than a day and quickly move on and live life. We can not change what we have done in the past but we always can try to make amends and then move on hoping not to repeat the same mistakes again. We should live our lives in harmony with each other and this world we live in, we should value all life for it is precious. We should always be out to help others in need and befriend the friendless. To spread the spirit of hope, love and compassion to all of God’s creatures and humankind. We should be advanced enough emotionally and intellectually not to judge others by their color, sex, religion or nationality.

Today is a new day and a new chance to choose a more compassionate and loving path to walk through life. A new chance to put others needs before our own and serve God by serving the needs of others. Though we may never reach perfection we can at least do our best for God.

The path you walk in life is one of your own making and is created by the choices you make daily

A gift, a miracle and a treasure!

I took this photo of my baby last summer when ...  As I await the birth of my second Grandchild, I think back to when my first son was born. I was not prepared to have such overwhelming feelings, for some one that I first laid eyes upon! Such love, I cannot explain with words. I was just in awe, of the baby that I held in my arms, and the realization that he was mine to take care of! God gave me such a gift! A miracle! A treasure! When my son became a Father,….I watched him experience the very same love and feelings for his daughter, as I had and have for him. I believe that God’s greatest gifts, are children. I believe that every baby is a wonderful miracle. They are the most sweet, most precious of all of God’s gifts. Just to hold a newborn baby, brings about such peaceful feelings. God gives us these precious gifts,….but we cannot forget that they are His. We are caretakers for them, and they are ours to love and cherish, and to protect, and to teach them about their heavenly Father….but they belong to God. I thank Him, for giving me the opportunity to have children to raise, and to see grandchildren. Who could want for more?

I believe that God’s greatest gifts, are children.
