be their helpers in every way possible

MP900427738  Helping those who are in need and that are unable to help themselves is not only feeding, clothing, housing or caring for their physical needs it is also caring for their spiritual and emotional needs as well. We are supposed to be their helpers in every way possible. We are to be their best friend, mentor, brother / sister and so on. They are fellow human beings and fellow children of God so they are a part of our great extended family through God and Christ. It all boils down to having and giving the same kind of love God and Jesus has given us. We should take care of each other as if we were family, we shouldn’t see others as separate from our family in Christ. Christ taught compassion towards all people, regardless of race, sex and even religion. How are we to win the hearts of those who don’t know Christ if we shun them for believing differently. That just closes the doors to their hearts and minds to us and to Christ as well.

We are supposed to be good examples of both God and  Jesus’s  love and their mercy not Judgmental and hurtful.

For those who are special to us in life.

MP900399738Have you told  your wife, husband, lover, family, friends how much you care about them today? Have you been taking those who are important to you for granted and forgetting they need to hear and/or see how much they mean to you? Just think at any given time sickness, disaster or some uncontrollable circumstance can take one of them away from you or you from them. Life is such an easy thing to lose and is such a wonderful thing to have and / or share with others. We must remember those god blessed us with in our life can be taken away at any given time so we should thank God for them and show them how grateful we are for them being in our lives.

Be it an email, phone call or letter by post, we just need to keep in touch with those in our lives and remind them how special they are. Life is short for all of us and therefore we should cherish every moment of it with those who are special to us. We should forgive easily, anger slowly and remember we all are imperfect human beings as well. We shouldn’t be afraid to show our love for those who are special to us in life.

Be they friends, lovers or family, those who are special to us are forever within our minds and hearts.

Give the battle to God and Begin serving God.

MP900321192 The Job, The Kids, your favorite TV show, even your battle with sin can be distractions from serving God. We allow ourselves to get consumed if not overwhelmed by every day life and the challenges we face each day and that makes it next to impossible to serve god. If we are devoting all of our energy, time and mental abilities to the world we leave very little to give to serving God. Of course we have to deal with everyday life and the challenges it brings, but there are a lot of things we could let go of or that we could hand off to others if not to god himself in order to make time to Serve God and help others.

jesus-christ-in-prayer_w725_h725 This world is stressful and can be quite exhausting, the enemy always tries to keep us occupied with what ever he can so we are to consumed by life to serve, worship or know God. Not only does the enemy use distraction he also tries to deceive you into believing there is no hope for you and that you can not be saved. He wants us to be lost and confused so we can not find our salvation and or serve our father and our savior. Through faith, prayer and serving God we strengthen ourselves and through reading the scripture we learn to focus on the will of God not our own.

MP900427741 (1) If you are in a battle with sin in your life stop fighting it on your own, Give the battle to God to fight. Begin serving God by helping others and being kind to others. The more you focus on doing things that are good the less you think of the things that are sinful or that you lust for. The more you dedicate yourself to serving God and doing his will the less hold on you the sinful nature will have. It is a life long battle that we must wage against our sinful natures but the war was already won upon the cross and by the blood.

If serving God is your first and last thought of the day, then Serving God you will do throughout the day.

Counting Our Blessings

National Day of Prayer

So many times,….we do not count our blessings. We forget to thank the Lord, for all He has done for us. I have been very guilty of that, as of late. Every morning when I wake up, i would say, Thank you Lord, for my life, and giving me another day to spend here with my loved ones. Here lately,…it is much later in the day that I have thanked Him. Life get’s so busy, trying to keep up with our spouses, our children, grandchildren, and our jobs. I do not work outside of my home, but i am a tole painter, and i paint to make extra money at times. I have recently begun to watch my baby grandson, for 3 days a week, also, which keeps me very busy. It seems i am moving in reverse, instead of forward, because things become so hectic.

All of these things, are no excuse for not making time for the Lord. He always makes time for me. He never says to me,…I will be with you after i clean the house, or wait until my projects are finished. When I come to Him in prayer, or when i need Him most,…He is always there for me. Never forsaking, or leaving me. I feel ashamed of myself, for not taking the time to give thanks like i should. Or reading His word, like I should. I throw a quick prayer, or praise in there, but NOT, like I should be praying and giving Him thanks, for all the wonderful miracles, and gifts, that He has given me. All of the guidance, and protection that He gives me, from the harms that are unseen from my eyes, or my understanding. Left to deal with by myself, would be terribly overwhelming for me. He is there for me. Like a rock! He is solid, and constant. He gives His all for me.

I am also thankful for each new day He gives me, so that i have another day to try to get it right. I must draw nigh unto God, so that He will draw nigh unto me. I must make time for the Lord, like He makes time for me. He has given me precious life. I want to spend my life, serving God, and trying to be pleasing to Him.

He is deserving of our time, and worthy of all praise!

What matters is how I act and how I treat others

002The night is coming to an end and the morning is about to begin. The sleepiness is fading with my first cup of coffee as I reflect on things from the day before. I have realized it doesn’t matter what others think about me and what others may say. What matters is how I act and how I treat others through out my life. I also found out that no matter what you do you will never meet the expectations or standards others set for you. All you can do is be yourself and do your best at what ever you do, be good and kind to others in hopes that they will return the kindness.  I also found there are several types of friends, there are acquaintances, colleagues, fair weather friends and real / close friends. The hardest to find of course are those that are close / real friends, they are the ones that tell you how it is when needed but always stick by you through good times and bad.

One must always be true to themselves and be the best person that they can be. Superficial things such as good looks, wealth and social statuses are fleeting and hallow in substance. Self love, compassion and the desire to improve ones self are almost as important as showing compassion, love and charity to others. If we can not love ourselves and / or show compassion to ourselves then how are we able to share those things with others.

Be true to yourself, Be compassionate, loving, be understanding and have forgiveness for everyone including your self.

Choice, Freewill, Respect and Kindness

jesus-christ-0206 It is the things we can make choices on in life that matter the most. The things we can make choices on we are solely responsible for and therefore we should be careful of what we choose. We can choose how we interact with and  treat others. We can be kind, loving, compassionate and peaceful with others or we can be selfish, hurtful, angry and hateful. Depending on how we treat and interact with others decides on what kind of reward we receive. Our words, thought, actions and even our lack of action can affect not only ourselves but the lives of those around us. I guess it comes down to the golden rule “Treat others as you wish them to treat you”. An old saying that has been repeated in different ways throughout history and can even be found in the bible.

I do not know why, but it seems to be kind or compassionate is seen as a difficult thing for some to do and some even see it as an unwanted behavior. Being kind, compassionate or loving is not all that hard and I see no downside to being a good-hearted person.  I rather be remembered for the kindness I showed others than to be remembered as a selfish or uncaring individual. Jesus taught us to try to be humble, compassionate, respectful and full of forgiveness. He was all of those things and more, being a Christian we are supposed to follow his example and his teachings because Christian means to be Christ like.

We are to be respectful of the choices of others even if we do not agree with them. We can only offer others the word and the path to salvation, we are not to try to force our faith and beliefs on others nor are we supposed to persecute unbelievers. We are to be gentle messengers, teachers and preachers not oppressors of others. God gave each one of us the freewill to choose to believe or not and we should respect the choices of others. If someone doesn’t want to be witnessed to we should leave them be but let them know that the door is always open if they change their mind and then we should pray for their souls.

Love the sinner, Love the lost and hate the sin within them, Offer them the word and respect their choice.

Thank you God

026Thank you God for another wonderful day of life, thank you for yet another chance for me to be redeemed and saved from my weak flesh. Give me the strength to overcome temptation and guide me away from that which will tempt me.  Give me the wisdom to understand which things I can change and which ones I can not. Bless me with the knowledge of what your will is and the strength to do your bidding. Bless my friends and bless my enemies two-fold and teach me patience with both. Help me to forgive others and help me learn to forgive myself. Forgive me for I have sinned and show me the path you have set for me to walk. Teach me how to have unconditional love, compassion and the understanding needed to apply them in everyday life. Please strengthen my faith so I can make it through this day without worry, fear or anger. Thank you God for listening to my prayers and for giving me this new day to better myself and the world I live in. Thank you God for everything and everyone you have blessed me with in my life.

Amen

People relied on themselves and each other to survive

This image was selected as a picture of the we...

For the most of us the issue today is survival, how to survive on the income we have in an economy that is hostile to the working mans wallet. Food prices keep rising, the job market is pretty stagnant and business are cutting hours if not jobs. We can not rely on our government to save us or to fix the problems. Big business can only fix the employment issues and we are the only ones that will save our selves. We can learn how to make money stretch, grow our own food and trim the fat from our financial lives from our grandparents and great-grandparents. Some of them lived through the great depression and a world war, times were very tough back then and people relied on themselves and each other to survive.

Our economy is based on consumerism, yet the companies cut pay, jobs and send work over seas. How can Americans be consumers without money or a job? The corporations are cutting their nose off spite their face, they want to save money to make higher profits but they take away the consumers jobs and money that supply the profits. So I say lets start growing gardens, raising livestock and making due with less of the products from the companies that ship work across the oceans and who are cutting wages, benefits and jobs to Americans. I understand it is a global economy now days more so than just a national one, but if you neglect those whom helped you to get rich they will eventually wise up and stop supporting you and / or purchasing your products and services.

Maybe we need to start going back to a bartering system between us working folk and keep our unessential purchases to a minimum. Maybe then the big corporations will learn that the working class and the impoverished are not to be messed with or taken for granted.

Self-reliance, community and co-operation are the things that built the great cities and nations of our world.

Give thanks each day for the gift of life

jesus22 Sometimes people get so wrapped up in fearing death they never get to live, they kill their spirit with fear of what is inevitable and unchangeable. Death is a part of the life cycle and until medicine or modern science finds a way to cheat death it’s a reality we all must accept. To live in fear of death is to not live at all, it is only existing and surviving. Life is something we shouldn’t take for granted nor put aside in fear of death. Afterlife or not, death is not the end of our existence in the universe, we will still be a part of everything material wise and we will live on in the hearts and minds of those we had touched in life.

Let go of the past, live in the here and now and let the future take care of itself. Do not let the fact of death distract you from the gift of life.God gave us power, hope and a sound mind and we must realize that fear is the enemy of happiness, faith and hope. Be happy each morning you wake, be happy in the day you live through and give thanks each day for the gift of life.

This time is for living not dying nor worrying. Have faith and live life in that faith and not in fear.
