Our bodies are not designed to be idle as much as we allow

p10053Exercise is not only for the body but it is for the mind as well, Seems when you give your body a workout you tend to lift your spirits and increase the blood flow to your brain and that is a good thing for sure. Research has been done into exercise and depression and has shown that physical activity does help lower the occurrence or strength of the depression. I can tell you from experience it does have a positive effect on stress and your emotional well-being.

Our bodies are not designed to be idle as much as we allow them to be and this is one of the causes for obesity  and poor cardiovascular health. Eating a good diet alone is not enough to keep in shape, so we need to get out and get moving. As the old saying  goes, a body in motion keeps in motion.

Life Is So Wonderful!!

flower01I am sitting here writing this, in the early morning,….and should have been asleep hours ago!  But i cannot help but think, how very precious and wonderful life is!  I am just so thankful to be alive today, and everyday! I know that a lot of bad things, can and do happen, in this life.  If it were too comfortable here, then we would not want to go to Heaven!  This is just a passing through place, until we get to our REAL, permanent home.  Until the time that the Lord, calls us home,…we can make the very best of life, right here.  It starts with having a positive attitude, and a will to find happiness, in the simplest of things.  If we just look at the wonderful things that God, has made, in His nature,…we can see how really beautiful that this world is!  Also, with all of the loving, and kind people, that He puts in out lives.  My grand baby’s smile, makes me so very happy!  Or even our many critters, that we have.  Just watching them, brings me such joy!  All of these things, i count as blessings!

It does not take much to bring about happiness.  Just look around, my friends!  Each and every new day, brings about such wonderful blessings!  Another day to enjoy God’s wonders, and all of His love!  Have a wonderful day!

The Past

The past serves as a tool for learning by the choices that we have made. It also can be a weight that holds us back if we can’t let go of either the mistakes we have made or the memories that we have. The most common thing that holds us back is a memory of a tragic circumstance or a failure that we feel responsible for. Remembering such things are not designed to hold us back,
instead they are for the purpose of healing. Sometimes it takes having forgiveness for the things we have done as much as for the actions of others.

Some things are just circumstances that we could not control and we want to hold our selves at fault for them. We should remember that the past is the past and that we need to forgive and forget so we can live life instead of reliving  the past.

Music, stress and relaxation

English: music therapy

Listening to music is a good way to relax and relieve stress, especially if you just kick back, close your eyes and let the music take you away. As my fellow author would call it.. Space out…  We tend to get too much in a hurry to do everything and to get everywhere. We act like we are running out of time, though in a way that is true for we only have a short time to live our lives in this world. But to live every second trying to do everything at the speed of light leaves us in the dark to what is going on around us and also keeps us in sensory overload. We need to breathe, stretch and just chill out at times. Our jobs make that next to impossible, but outside work we can learn to manage time to where we have time to relax. Music being a very good tool for relaxation is what I usually use to relieve stress and relax the body and mind.

There is some scientific research out there that suggest music can alter ones brain wave patterns. Brainwaves tend to sync with the music tempo you are listening to, if you listen to harder faster music you become more mentally alert and the slower tempo music causes most of us to relax and can even cause us to enter a meditative state. Music also has proven to lower blood pressure, help with anxiety and depression as well.

Music is vibrational medicine for the mind, body and spirit.

We are both Mind and Body

200px-Descartes mind and body

The mind is constantly bombarded by both external stimuli and inner thought processes. Even  when sleeping the mind is at work solving your problems and living out your fears as well as your fantasies via dreams. During sleep the mind does have time to rest some, but with the amount of sleep most of us are getting it doesn’t get enough rest. This causes many problems from stress on the body and mind to the decrease of mental focus during the day. Lack of adequate sleep over time causes problems with blood pressure and can lead to either depression or crankiness. So little emphasis is put on getting a good night sleep, even some who do get 8 hours of sleep still don’t get the required amount of deep sleep and they pay the same price for those of us that get 5 or 6 hours.

In modern times it seems that we have less time to sleep due to the non stop nature of our society. The stress from work, relationships and even family makes it hard to get deep and relaxing sleep as well. We need to set more time aside for sleep and learn to remove/manage the stress before heading to bed. Being stressed out when you go to bed only makes it harder to get to sleep and usually makes your sleep to light if not restless.  Relaxation techniques such as relaxing to some soothing music, taking a long hot bath and meditation are very beneficial to relieving stress and if done before bedtime it helps you get a good night sleep.

Today too much emphasis is put on physical health and how physical activity is the key to being healthy and not enough about how the mind plays a strong part in being healthy as well. We are both Mind and Body, we need to keep a healthy mind as well as a healthy body for they both affect one another and the overall health of a person.

A peaceful mind leads to a relaxed and stress free body, a well maintained body leads to a healthier mind.

A better attitude towards life

013Why is it we tend to get more nostalgic as we age? Are we simply trying to relive our lost youth, or is it we think the times were better back in our youth? The thing is times seemed better back in our youth because we had a better attitude towards life and we didn’t allow stress to be our master as much as we do now. Of course things were less expensive when we were younger and maybe the economy was stronger, but those things are not what made the past seem to be so good. Some of it was we had all of our family alive or at least most of it and we had friends who we hung out with just to hang. We walked more than drove, we found happiness in simpler things and didn’t have as much problem prioritizing our time. We took things as they were and we didn’t worry as much about bills and where our next meal was coming from. We lived in the now and not in the past for we had little past to live in back then. We worried very little about the future for we had the feeling life was forever and we had time to do things later. Now we rush like we have only a day or week left of life, we worry and stress over things that we can not control. We forget life is for living, laughing and loving one another. We get too caught up in work, our goals and how we can’t control everything.

We seem to worry more about the expectations of others than the welfare of those we love. We need to return to just living in the now and not in the past, we need not worry about the future it will come when it is time. To plan for the future is good but to worry over it is not. Instead of longing for years gone by we should be living in the day we are in and try to make it the best day we can. Worry and stress are the biggest killers out there today, they cause everything from high blood pressure, heart failure to many other diseases. Let go of the stress and worry, give them to God and learn to  have faith in him. By letting go of the worry/stress and embracing faith we find hope and are released from the physical stress created by the worry.

When we were younger we were more carefree and rarely suffered with stress or worry. Now we are older we long for better times gone by, we just need to return to being more carefree.

Prayer for freedom of Tobacco.

No Smoking - American Cancer Society's Great A...

Today I put my addictions in the hands of God, For years I have Smoked Cigarettes like there is no tomorrow and now I realize I must quit them soon or there may be no tomorrow. So I call out for all of my friends, readers, Co-authors and fellow bloggers to pray for me so I can conquer this demon called Nicotine. Rest assured I am not proud of being addicted and having an uncontrollable habit such as smoking, It is what ultimately killed my Dad and is slowly killing me and the rest of my family. I hope I can be successful in quitting not only for myself (though it is for myself as well) but also so I can be inspiration for the rest of my family and others to quit as well. Well may God bless me on this quest for freedom of addiction and may he hear my prayers and the prayers of all of you.

We have the power to choose our path in life

003We can either simply exist in our life or live our life to the fullest. We can walk through our life looking back or looking forward. We can carry the burdens of our past or shrug them off and live in the here and now. What has been is long gone, what will be has not yet come and what is now will be what was soon enough. We can live our life worrying about how and when we may die or we can live each moment as if it were our last. We can cherish the here and now, we can love one another as if we may not meet again.

We can choose to live in sorrow, regret and in fear or we can choose to live in happiness with love and compassion as our guide. We have the power to choose our path in life and for the most part we can choose our destiny as well. We are the masters of our own life and we have the power to choose how we live it. The choice to be happy, to be loved or not is within our own hands and no one else’s. How others affect us is also a choice we have, for we can either react to others or act upon the actions of others. All of this comes with the gift of freewill, and so does the responsibility of how we affect others.

Live life being who you are to the fullest and let no one lead you astray from living in the now. Give up your fear to God and embrace the hope, faith and sound mind he has given us all. Live not by the sword but by your heart, walk not by sight but by faith and give thanks for all you have been given and that you have not yet received.

Mankind’s worst enemies are fear and the ignorance that it feeds.

Fear is a direct enemy of Faith

Scared child

Fear is a direct enemy of Faith, When we give into fear we give up on our faith and that even opens us up for more fear to come in. Fear increases the production of adrenalin in our bodies which creates higher blood pressure which can damage blood vessels and much more. A mind full of fear is one that will never be a sound mind. Fear has its place and its purpose in our lives but it is not supposed to be a every day thing. It is supposed to protect us from an immediate threat to our lives and not to rule our mindset constantly. God gave us power, faith and a sound mind and the world feeds us fear which can destroy the body, our faith and definitely mess up a sound mind. Faith can overcome fear and a sound mind can conquer fear as well and this is part of the power god gave us all.

Live a life of Faith and there is no room for fear to get in.

The Acceptable Norm, Vanity and Illusions of the modern world.

CTL10029 The world we live in has its social ideals of what is normal or what is considered good. Usually the moral factor plays very little in modern society. If something is done by enough people and its talked about and seen enough it becomes acceptable. Entertainment media pushes what the ideal looking male and female on us all so much that it creates a lot of people to have a poor self-image. Not everyone is meant to be a size zero or built like a weight lifter.  We were not all born blonde and some that were, became light brown as we aged. The social idea of what beauty  is a far-fetched fantasy of what maybe only 2% of us can reach without starving ourselves to death or working out at the gym all day and every day.

fnp0502  I think that for a civilization that is still so caught up in the physical appearance of people is a civilization that is still immature. I figured by now we would grow out of the physical beauty thing and maybe reach for higher standards such as how kind or how helpful one is as a standard. Vanity seems to be a weakness humanity can not shake, it is sad we are still caught up in the illusion that what we look like is what makes us better person or not. I think we as a species are too caught up in comparing ourselves with each other and that is such a waste of time. There is always someone who is better at one thing or another than yourself and it shouldn’t matter if they are or not. You should just be yourself and be proud of who and what you are because you are what God planned you to be. We all have our unique qualities and we all have something to bring to the table in our home, community and even the world.

MP900444203 Maybe if people in this world can learn not to worry about what they don’t have or what someone else may have or not we could get beyond the illusions and lies and make a better world for all of our children and grandchildren to live in. We all are great people and each of us has something to offer our world we live in and its time we recognize that and act upon it.

Yesterday is but a memory, Tomorrow is but an illusion and today is called the present because it’s a gift from God.
